Thermal convection in nematic layers (Q1066736)

We allow the perturbation variables to be dependent on both spatial variables in the plane of the plates. For the homeotropic alignment we show analytically that the two and three dimensional problems are equivalent. For planar orientation we solve numerically the three dimensional problem and show that the two dimensional solution for the critical threshold is a local minimum.
