Chern characters on compact Lie groups of low rank (Q1067266)

Let G be a compact, simply connected, simple Lie group of rank \(\ell \leq 4\). The author computes explicitly ch \(\beta\) (\(\lambda\) \({}_ i)\) for suitable generators \(\lambda_ 1,...,\lambda_{\ell}\) of the representation ring R(G), where ch denotes the Chern character, ch: \(K^*(G)\to H^*(G;{\mathbb{Q}})\), and \(\beta\) : R(G)\(\to K^*(G)\) is the map introduced by \textit{L. Hodgkin} [Topology 6, 1-36 (1967; Zbl 0186.571)].
