Approximate integral method developed by \textit{A. Bianchini, L. de Socio} and \textit{A. Pozzi} [J. Appl. Mech. 43, 396-398 (1976; Zbl 0351.76035)] has been used to study the boundary layer flow along a flat plate with suction (or blowing). Flows with uniform suction and when suction velocity varies inversely with the square root of the distance from the leading edge have been considered. The results for the velocity profiles and skin friction are presented and compared with other investigations. In the case of suction, it has been observed that the method yields reasonably accurate results whereas it fails to locate the separation point in the case of blowing.
