A rounding algorithm is described that maps real numbers into a rational number system, whose elements are represented as the quotient of two finite range integers. Contrarily to the common method to approximate a real number through either its immediate smaller or larger rational neighbour, the algorithm as it is presented here will map in most cases the real number to the closer one of these two neighbours.
