Deformation of a semi-infinite poroelastic medium with a tangential load on its surface (Q1068604)

The general solutions for the problem of deformation of a semi-infinite poroelastic medium under the action of tangential load applied on its surface are obtained with the help of displacement functions followed by Laplace-Hankel transforms technique. The solutions are then applied to the problem where a tangential force acts uniformly over a circular region of the surface and the initial and final response of the normal displacement, normal and circumferential stresses are shown graphically.
