The temperature distribution in Poiseuille flow through a circular pipe with discontinuity in the wall temperature has been considered. Since the exact solution in the closed form is not available, two methods have been tried. The first one is the approximate analytical method which reduces to an eigenvalue problem. The second is the ADI method. Numerical results from both the methods have been worked out for various values of the Péclét number.
