Extensions of semidefinite functions (Q1068901)

In this clear and interesting note, the author gives statements around the following problem, already studied by Gondard and Ribenboim: Let \(V\subset {\mathbb{R}}^ n\) be an algebraic set, f a polynomial such that \(f| V\) is positive or null, does there exist a polynomial F positive or null over \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\) with \(F| V=f| V ?\) The answer may be positive or negative, depending on the geometry of V. The author gets new results in the general case and in the case of curves.
