The authors consider the problem of a toroidal non-axisymmetric plasma, and the possibility of multiple solutions for the electric field. An algorithm is proposed which will obtain a spatially continuous and temporally stable solution and the bumpy torus is used as an example. There is very little detailed mathematics and the treatment is mainly physical.
