Maps of groups inducing projections are studied. Projections of linear spaces are well known to be induced by semilinear maps. Maps (so called normed affinities) being analogous to semilinear maps are constructed for groups. For every group \(G\) two characteristic subgroups are introduced and studied. They show how near to isomorphisms the normed affinities of \(G\) are.
