Characteristic parameters of the departure process from a G/M/1/0 loss system with a stationary counting arrival process are approximated by combining a two-parameter approximation method of \textit{W. Whitt} [Oper. Res. 30, 125-147 (1982; Zbl 0481.90025)] for the arrival process, with exact results of \textit{D. J. Daley} [Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 75, 103-107 (1974; Zbl 0285.60075)] for the departure process from the system GI/G/1/0. Some numerical results are given.
