A plane problem of the steady state of a body in an infinite elastic medium in the range of sonic velocities is considered. The generalized Hilbert problem arises for the complex function determining the longitudinal part of the velocity and stress field, and the transverse part of the field is expressed simply by the solution of the Hilbert problem. The separation of the medium from the body contour at the trailing edge is computed.
