In this paper a nonperturbative calculation of the axial anomaly for Dirac-Kähler fermions in two and four dimensions is presented. The result differs by a factor of \(2^{n/2}\) from the result for the twisted spin complex, as does the corresponding index theorem differ analogously for the twisted spin complex and the twisted signature complex.
