A construction method is proposed for efficient gradient algorithms for the minimization of ravine functions. These algorithms are of combined (hybrid) type, with a higher convergence rate than in the case of the basic algorithms, this being achieved without greatly complicating the program. The effectiveness of a combined method based on the Davidon- Fletcher-Powell algorithm is corroborated by numerical experiments.
