    The proportional navigation system is a complicated nonlinear sampled- data control system. The stability boundaries and limit cycles of the system are found by the stability-equation method. The results are useful for analysing the tracking characteristics of the system, especially in the nonlinear region for which no analysis is given in the current literature.
