The authors attempt to calculate the grand thermodynamic potential of interacting Fermi systems, with the help of an identity for the trace of an exponential function of Kronecker products of matrices. The specific heat for different numbers of electrons per site is calculated and the calculations are extended to find approximate solutions of the Hubbard model.
