Free nonlinear vibrations of a string (Q1073266)

The author proves existence of a weak \(2\pi\)-periodic solution to the equation \(u_{tt}-u_{xx}+g(u)=0\), \(0<x<\pi\) with boundary conditions \(u(0,t)=u(\pi,t)=0\). Here \(g: R\to R\) is a continuous nondecreasing function satisfying \(g(0)=0\) and certain growth conditions related to eigenvalues of the wave operator \(\partial_{tt}-\partial_{xx}\).
