The iterative method of \textit{M. H. Baluch, M. F. N. Mohsen} and \textit{A. I. Ali} [ibid. 7, 362-365 (1983; Zbl 0515.65061)] for solving nonlinear differential two-point boundary value problems is generalized and shown to be equivalent to using the standard method of adjoints on a linearized form of the nonlinear boundary-value problem.
