Some obvious inequalities for Bernoulli's periodic function \(B(x)=x-[x]- 1/2\) lead to simple estimates of the series \(\sum^{\infty}_{m=1}B(x/m)m^{-a}\) for \(a>1\). These are applied to the sum of the a-th power of the divisor function.
