The authors propose an analytical procedure to the solution of non- stationary heat diffusion problems in multilayered slabs with mutual linear coupling. By introducing the condition that the coupling coefficients have to be symmetric, the proposed procedure is in fact an extension of a previous method being concerned to a single multilayered wall. The authors obtain the general solution of the problem deriving first the solution of the corresponding homogeneous problem. An application is illustrated at the heat treatment furnaces being used in metallurgy.
