We consider the plane unsteady motion of an ideal incompressible fluid near an oscillating profile in accordance with an arbitrary law for its contour deformation in a Cartesian coordinate system x,y. We assume that there is potential fluid flow outside the profile and the possible lines of discontinuity of the velocity (vortex wakes). We derive equations for the calculation of the total force vector and the total moment of the pressures exerted on the profile by the fluid, assuming the distribution of the tangential velocity component of the fluid along the profile is known at each time t.
