A new nonlinear age-structured population model is derived, describing growth of I interacting biological species. Departing from partial differential equations of von Förster type (for deaths) with the usual integral boundary conditions (for births), the authors then impose conditions allowing semi-explicit computation of solutions. In a detailed way, the resulting age-distributions are investigated. Comparison with the classical Lotka model and various extensions and applications (genetic equilibria, cellular aggregates) are discussed.
