The second author [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 10, 185-201 (1983; Zbl 0525.04004)] has shown that the fuzzy relation equations of \textit{E. Sanchez} [Inf. Control 30, 38-48 (1976; Zbl 0326.02048)] can be viewed as a limit case of a more general type of fuzzy equations defined via a particular class of fuzzy connectives of \textit{R. R. Yager} [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 4, 235-242 (1980; Zbl 0443.04008)]. For these equations, the solutions with the greatest energy measure and the smallest entropy measure of fuzziness are determined.
