With the help of a computer it is shown that a semi-symmetric design for \((32,6,(1))\) does not exist and that the semi-symmetric design for \((38,9,(2))\) exists uniquely. This answers once more two brilliant questions of D. R. Hughes about semi-symmetric designs.
