The aim of this paper is to study the properties of Sylow subgroups in an almost locally normal group. The choice of the class of almost locally normal groups as the principal object of study is due to the fact that such groups are close to locally normal groups; it is well known that natural counterparts of Sylow and Hall theorems have been obtained for the latter. The examples 1-3 constructed show that in general we do not have corresponding theorems for almost locally normal groups. If, however, we select only some (among all the Sylow subgroups) that satisfy certain conditions, then with the aid of such subgroups it is possible to obtain a number of factorization results.
