A simple geometric proof is given for the following theorem of \textit{N. Alon} and \textit{E. Györi} [J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 41, 154--157 (1986; Zbl 0584.05003)] that given \(n\) points on the plane, at most \(kn\) subsets of size \(\leq k\) can be separated from the rest by a line.
