The reviewer agrees with the author's abstract: A general model for n-species competition is discussed within the framework of nonlinear compartmental analysis. Each species is treated as a separate compartment and the resource is another compartment. Biomass is assumed to be conserved, that is, dead individuals and excreted material return to the resource. Qualitative results are found to be compatible with those arising from classical population models. Similar compartmental formulations are suggested for other population interactions such as predator-prey or mutualism.
