Corrected version, concerning the 2-part of absolute genus fields, of a paper of \textit{M. Bhaskaran} (1979) who has corrected himself (1984) in the same Journal! [ibid. 11, 488-497 (1979; Zbl 0421.12012)] and 19, 449- 451 (1984; Zbl 0546.12007)]; see also 21, 256-259 (1985; Zbl 0573.12002)]. In any case these subjects, initialized with H. W. Leopoldt's results (1953), are easy consequences of class field theory, and many generalisations are available.
