\textit{A. Abian} [Am. Math. Mon. 92, 94-98 (1985; Zbl 0571.12012)] has shown that if every finite subsystem of a system of less than continuum many polynomial equations over the field of complex numbers (or any algebraically closed field) has a solution, then the entire system has a solution. The purpose of this very interesting paper under review is to provide a few complementary remarks to the above cited work of Abian.
