On the elastic field from a nonuniform dislocation (Q1081347)

An approximate solution for the velocity field of an unbounded elastic material is derived for a Somigliana screw dislocation moving nonuniformly. The solution, a sum of two terms, is given by inversion in time of the high-frequency radiation obtained by the method of steepest descents. A different approach is also adapted to bypass high-frequency calculations and obtain the approximate solution directly in the time domain. For both methods, comparisons are made with results from simple cases treated previously in the literature with different methods.
