An algorithm based on the generalized time finite element method (GTFEM) for the integration of a dynamic equation for a nonlinear problem is considered. It involves two free parameters, \(\theta _ 1\) and \(\theta _ 2\), which are optimized with respect to accuracy and computational effort. The results for the proposed scheme are evaluated and compared with commonly used Newmark and Wilson procedures.
