We solve a boundary-value problem for a certain linear singular partial differential equation of parabolic type by a suitable implicit finite- difference scheme. This allows us to obtain precise tabulated values for the mean powers reflected and transmitted by a slab of random medium. This is relevant e.g. to plasma physics.
