Recently, \textit{I. O. Ojikutu}, \textit{R. D. Low} and \textit{R. A. Scott} [ibid. 20, 777-790 (1984; Zbl 0553.73060)] described a numerical method for determining the order \(\lambda\) of Williams-type stress singularities arising within the framework of classical lamination theory at the apex of a composite laminated wedge. It is the purpose of this note to show that the cumbersome derivation of ordinary differential equations, boundary conditions and finite difference approximations may be avoided altogether because the partial differential equations of classical lamination theory, written in Cartesian coordinates, admit a general integral in closed form, similar to \textit{S. G. Lekhnitskij}'s approach [Theory of elasticity of an anisotropic body (1963; Zbl 0119.190)] with complex-variable stress functions.
