With nonlinear Rayleigh damping formula we describe the exciting process when the rupture velocity is low, and the attenuation process when the rupture velocity reaches a certain high value. Considering the earth crust as a homogeneous and isotropic linear Voigt viscoelastic body, using a small parameter perturbation method the nonlinear governing partial differential equations are transformed into a system of asymptotic linear ones, which are solved by means of generalized Fourier series with moving coordinates as variables, thus transformed into nonhomogeneous Mathieu equations. The Mathieu equations are solved by the WKBJ method.
