We consider the problem of reflection of incident surface waves by undulations on the sea bed in a finite region allowing the effect of surface tension. We consider a type of problem which involves the deterministic treatment of a two-dimensional situation in which reflection and transmission of incident wave energy may occur under the action of surface tension. This theory predicts the effect of surface tension on the perturbation potential and on the ratio of the amplitudes of perturbed potential and first order velocity potential. The theory has been applied for a patch of ripples on an otherwise flat bed. Graphs are drawn to study the effect of surface tension on the said ratio. This solution also predicts a resonance effect in back scatter of incident wave.
