A scheme for designing finite-dimensional controllers based on a Galerkin approximation of an infinite-dimensional controller for linear distributed parameter systems is presented. Sufficient conditions under which the Galerkin approximation will exponentially stabilize the closed- loop system are given, provided of course approximations of sufficiently high order are taken.
