We define a concept of rough relation, based on the idea of rough set defined by the author in a previous paper [Int. J. Comput. Inf. Sci. 11, 341-356 (1982; Zbl 0501.68053)]. Some elementary properties of rough relations are given. The presented approach may be considered as an alternative to the ''fuzzy'' philosophy.
