The author generalizes Baumslag's notion of Hopfian groups to rings and modules. If R is a Hopfian Boolean ring and X is the space of all maximal ideals of R with the hull-kernel topology, then every injective continuous map of X into X is a homeomorphism. The properties of Hopfian modules over special types of rings are also studied.
