A general model for a microprocessor as an aggregate of functions created by its hardware is determined. Sets of mechanisms for data processing, processing control, storage, data transfer, and data transfer control are isolated. Recommendations for constructing data processing tests which form the functional models and clarify the conditions for testing the data processing control mechanisms are given. A procedure for constructing the tests for these mechanisms is presented.
