The author compares errors in cubic spline interpolation and Lagrangian methods of interpolation for a range of functions, tabular intervals and levels of data errors. He shows that for large step-sizes (which is an important case in practice) and for fairly accurate data, Lagrangian methods are considerably more accurate than splines.
