Dynamic behavior of a rigid-plastic beam (Q1083910)

The author considers dynamic bending of a freely supported rigid-plastic beam acted upon by an explosive-type load that is uniformly distributed on part of the span. For moderate asymmetrical loads, and also for symmetrical loads of arbitrary intensity, a complete solution is obtained; possible deformation shapes of the beam are determined for the case of large asymmetrical loads. For loads uniformly distributed over the entire span and loads concentrated at the center of the span, the results agree with those of \textit{P. Symonds} [Mekhanika 4, 90-108 (1956)].
