This paper describes the geometrical methods used by Pascal in his ''Traité des sinus du quart de cercle'' to compute areas which correspond, in our calculus terminology, to the integration of sin x and \(\sin^ 2x\). Emphasis is put on the use of the famous characteristic triangle and on a technique of the ''integration by parts'' type.
