Within the conventional formalism of general relativity no energy momentum tensor is assigned to the gravitational field itself. The author supposes to define such an object according to some reference system, which is ''comoving with the gravitational field'', namely according to Petrov tetrads. This idea was realized by the author [Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 240, 568-571 (1978; Zbl 0419.53019)] for the special case, that there is given a vacuum space time of the nondegenerate Petrov type \(T_ 1\); here the degenerate case is treated.
