Introducing the concept of Boltzmann entropy for a particle system in a finite volume it is proved that the entropy (defined by a simple partition) does not decrease for long time intervals. This result assumes among other things restrictive conditions on the particle interaction potential. Compatibility with reversibility and Poincaré recurrence is manifest.
