Computer graphics and the geometry of \(S^ 3\) (Q1085840)

The great potential of computer graphics as a new exploratory medium was recognized by mathematicians soon after the relevant technology became available. As display devices and programming methods grew more sophisticated, so did the depth and scope of applications of computer graphics to mathematical problems. We offer the cover pictures of Volume 8, Number 3 and the current issue of the Intelligencer as an example of recent fruitful interactions of mathematics with computer graphics. The purpose of this short article is essentially to provide extended figure captions for both covers.
