Survey on the representation type of group algebras (Q1086661)

Let R be a finite dimensional algebra over a field K, and let G be a finite group. The author and \textit{A. Skowroński} [Math. Z. 187, 563-569 (1984; Zbl 0548.16007)] characterized the situations where RG is of finite representation type; \textit{A. Skowroński} [Proc. Conf., Udine/Italy 1984, CISM Courses Lect. 287, 517-531 (1984; Zbl 0559.16015)] determined when RG is of tame representation type, provided that K is algebraically closed. The author describes the details of these results, together with their historical background.
