The paper is concerned with a chordal quadratic system \(dx/dt=P(x,y)\), (1) \(dy/dt=Q(x,y)\), namely a two-dimensional autonomous system with polynomial right-hand sides without finite singularities. The authors establish necessary and sufficient conditions for a quadratic system to be chordal and determine all possible phase portraits for such systems.
