Spectral theorems for some (non-) self-adjoint differential operators of linear thermoelasticity using eigenfunction expansions are given. The procedure applied consists in: (1) analyzing the thermoelastic problem for an infinite, isotropic, and homogeneous medium; (2) deriving the eigenfunction expansions of the operators by means of Fourier transformation, which leads also to the solution of the time dependent problem; (3) generalizing the results to operators satisfying some restrictions on spectra.
