Accuracy of difference schemes for quasilinear parabolic problems (Q1087321)

This paper considers a class of degenerate, quasilinear parabolic equations with a wave front boundary condition. An analysis is made of the distortion of the profile of solutions of this problem by a difference solution using the most widely applied difference methods. Comparisons are made, and a modification is advanced of the scheme with catching front, using an idea similar to the introduction of Lagrange variables in the calculation of generalized solutions of hyperbolic problems.
