A finite element algorithm is presented for the solution of the basic equations describing thermomechanical problems in a conductor carrying an alternating current. The analyzed algorithm is based on a combination of the Bubnov-Galerkin method and the method of separation of variables. Calculations are carried out for a copper conductor with strong skin effect.
