The spectrum of the infinitesimal generator of the linear system obtained by the linearization of a nonlinear dynamical system about a stable steady state solution is called its relaxation spectrum. The relaxation spectrum of a general model of populations of interacting neurons of common type (either excitatory or inhibitory) is analyzed. The dependence of the loci of eigenvalues on the parameters of the model is investigated and demonstrated on plots. Some interesting discussion on the neurophysiological significance of the theory is proposed.
